Job Summary:

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports physical therapists in providing therapeutic care to patients in various settings including outpatient, acute care, skilled nursing therapy, and home health. The role involves assisting with treatment plans, patient mobility, and rehabilitation exercises to improve patient outcomes. The PTA works under the supervision of licensed physical therapists and is expected to manage a varied caseload effectively while maintaining strong communication with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physical therapists in implementing patient treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic exercises and modalities to patients in outpatient, acute, skilled nursing, and home health settings.
• Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising physical therapist.
• Document patient care activities and maintain accurate records.
• Support patient mobility and rehabilitation efforts to enhance recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Physical Therapy Assistant certification or degree from an accredited program.
• Minimum of two years experience preferred in acute and long-term care settings.
• Strong knowledge of physical therapy techniques and patient care standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Current CPR certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with diverse patient populations across multiple care settings.
• Additional training or certifications in specialized therapy techniques.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires flexibility to work with a varied patient caseload including outpatient, acute, skilled nursing, and home health.
• May require travel for home health visits.

Scheduling:

• Primarily scheduled for five 8-hour day shifts per week.
• Shift assignments may vary based on patient needs and facility requirements.
