Genesis Staffing is seeking experienced Structural Welders for a long-term opportunity with a growing industrial fabrication client in the Creola area. This is a hands-on shop role for welders who take pride in producing clean, sound structural welds while working safely, efficiently, and as part of a strong fabrication team.
The ideal candidate will have proven structural welding experience, solid blueprint-reading ability, and the confidence to work independently from fabrication drawings and approved welding procedures.
Weld structural steel components according to fabrication drawings, weld symbols, welding procedures, and quality requirements.
Perform FCAW and GMAW welding on structural steel assemblies and fabricated components.
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedure specifications.
Verify fit-up, weld preparation, joint configuration, and material condition prior to welding.
Use grinders, torches, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment as needed to prepare and finish welds.
Work closely with fitters, supervisors, and quality personnel to keep projects moving and ensure work meets customer specifications.
Inspect completed welds for quality, appearance, and compliance before moving work to the next stage of production.
Help maintain production schedules by completing work accurately and efficiently.
Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment when authorized.
Minimum of 3 years of structural welding experience preferred.
Strong experience with FCAW and GMAW welding processes.
GTAW experience is a plus, but not required.
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedures.
Knowledge of weld preparation, fit-up verification, distortion control, and structural welding best practices.
Ability to operate grinders, cutting torches, and standard fabrication tools.
Ability to pass required welding qualification tests.
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team-oriented fabrication environment.
Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and customer-specific requirements.
Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
Inspect welding machines, leads, torches, and equipment before use; promptly report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment.
Follow hot-work procedures, fire-prevention practices, and proper compressed-gas cylinder handling requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
Store welding leads, hoses, tools, and materials properly to reduce trip hazards and protect equipment.
Participate in daily safety meetings and contribute to a safe, productive shop environment.
