Job Description

The General Manager of Motoring Coffee leads day-to-day cafe operations while upholding quality, culture, and brand standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances working on bar, maintaining our retail section, managing staff, overseeing operations, and collaborating with upper management. You will also help showcase the Motoring Coffee and The Motoring Club experience through community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and support cafe staff while fostering a positive work environment
• Work on bar regularly, ensuring exceptional drink quality and customer experience
• Maintain quality control across beverages, service, and shop presentation
• Schedule employees with advanced notice
• Manage inventory, ordering, invoices, adhering to budgets
• Conduct weekly check-ins with upper management, vendors, and partners
• Oversee merchandising, inventory/stockroom, and retail presentation
• Lead team training, recipe development, and operational improvements
• Serve as first coverage when staff are unavailable

Skills & Qualifications

• A customer-first attitude
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Advanced coffee knowledge, including extraction theory and milk steaming
• Ability to train staff on coffee origins, processes, and techniques
• An interest in vintage and modern automobiles and the passion behind The Motoring Club
• Interest in culinary partnerships and high-quality vendors
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities

• Monthly team-building activities and one-on-one staff check-ins
• Quarterly employee reviews and seasonal menu transitions
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and a positive shop culture
• Stay engaged with industry trends, new technologies, and coffee events
• The ability to work at least one weekend day and holidays
