Position Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electronic Technician 3 to support the Avionics Development Center in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will support critical fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and repair activities in both production and development environments.

The technician will work with electronic systems, circuit boards, wiring, avionics equipment, and test equipment while maintaining strict quality, ESD, and FOD/FOE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic systems, components, and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair circuit boards, wiring, and electronic components.
• Perform component-level troubleshooting of analog and digital circuits.
• Conduct operational testing under environmental stress screening, vibration, and thermal conditions.
• Identify and isolate electronic malfunctions to the component level.
• Perform defined engineering tests and collect technical data.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications .
• Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, VOMs, RF generators, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
• Document test results, repairs, troubleshooting activities, and maintenance accurately.
• Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis (RCA) .
• Assemble and troubleshoot cable and wire harnesses.
• Perform electrical soldering and, when required, micro-soldering.
• Support circuit card assembly and electronic assembly activities.
• Maintain compliance with ESD, FOD/FOE, safety, quality, and workmanship standards .
• Work effectively in both manufacturing and development environments.

Required Qualifications

• 4 years of related experience , OR equivalent electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or military technical school .
• Experience troubleshooting analog and digital circuits .
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment .
• Experience with avionics troubleshooting .
• Component-level troubleshooting experience.
• Experience using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electronic test equipment .
• Knowledge of ESD and FOD controls.
• Previous government experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RF systems.
• Experience with digital/analog circuits or embedded electronics.
• Component-level troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with VOM, DVM, and similar test equipment.
• Experience with IPC-A-610 Class III Surface Mount .
• Cable assembly and wire harness assembly experience.
• Electrical soldering and micro-soldering experience.
• Solder certification.
• Current certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA J-STD , or other electronics assembly/workmanship standards.
• Circuit card assembly experience.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience.
